The service provides weather forecast in response to the name of a city/location or coordinates via SMS-messages or chat bots in WhatsApp and Telegram.

The data is optimized for mountain climbers and paraglider pilots on mountain routes. It comes in handy in the mountains and in the outlands (not at the North pole or in the middle of the ocean, though ☺), where mobile service is still available, but the Internet is not.

Each user customizes the format of messages for themselves. For example, you can add or delete the data from the list, choose the metric system for height and wind power, and Celsius or Fahrenheit scale for temperature.

There is also an option which allows receiving the forecast for predetermined coordinates at a given time. We are working on integration with Spot Satellite GPS Messenger which will be providing the forecast according to their coordinates and notifications in case of bad weather.

We receive and process the data from the following website: https://www.noaa.gov/

We pay particular attention to cloud base altitude – a significant indicator which has numerous calculation methods. Cloud base is very accurate and is currently being perfected, which you can test yourself.

Wind direction is indicated in degrees, no northwest or southeast ☺ It’s very vague and we need accuracy. Apart from the wind at the ground level, wind direction and force under the cloud base are indicated since it is wasteful to provide the wind parameters in messages every 100 meters of height and irrational to add +500 or +1000 meters. The best compromise solution is to indicate the wind at the ground level and at the cloud altitude – we are not going to fly any higher and we can have an idea of the situation in between.
